After the Ride

After an amazing weekend of sun, a little cloud and favourable winds, the Ride to Conquer Cancer has drawn to a close for 2009.

Cheese Boutique fundraising and East-Dell Ride a Sucess

Spinning at the Cheese Boutique
Another great spinning and fundraising event at Cheese Boutique. The Maseratti incident and the Tawes wine-tasting were highlights. This lead to planning for a Sunday trip to Tawes. Tom and Ken got to try Mark's time trial bike as did Will get to try Chris' Cervelo. We believe this led directly to his purchase of his carbon DeVinci bike.

East-Dell Ride
We had rain, sun, wind and we got lost. In other words, it was a roaring success!! The ride went very well (despite to extensive detour) and all had fun. Will's new bike is now the envy of all, and it regularly had him leading our pack.

The best part of the ride, was perhaps, the buffet breakfast at the View at East-Dell. The food was great (Mark had 4 helpings and Anthony drank them out of coffee). It pays to choose your driver well as Tom took Ken and Mark to wineries - also a roaring success!!

Thanks to all for the organization and coordination of the two days. It was great.

Reminder: Pre-ride Dinner
Tom has suggested we get together at the Evelyn Estates Winery for a pre-Ride dinner on June 12th. Please contact Tom to RSVP, especially if you have food or drink requests. We were thinking of a BYO-BBQ with pasta and salads/bread.

Here's the signage for the front wheels for this coming weekend. These will be on 4x6 cards that will be laminated (in case it rains).

See you all Saturday.

May 2- 3 Rides

Thought I would try posting here to cut down on the e-mail volume.
The 8:15 start on Saturday is too late for me, so I am going to head out earlier.
I will try and make the Sunday ride to go out with the first group.
Is there an earlier start for the Sunday ride for a longer, faster ride?

New approach to training...

Idiots... don't try this at home...

May 9th

We seem to have 6 spinners for May 9th. We have two locations - No Frills and Bank of Montreal. Forecast is for mix of sun and cloud - no rain.
We'll be collecting cash and afterward making it a donation to those who seem to be behind in their fundraising. The plan is to spin from 10:00 to 1:00 or 2:00. We'll need to set up about 9:30.
I'll also have some team donation forms printed up for people who want to make a donation large enough to get a tax receipt. Let me know if you would like a page (10) of business cards.

Saturday Ride Plans

As Doug sent:

"so here's the plan: meet in the free parking lot at Brule park at Old Mill @7:30am. The route is the same as the next day RTCC ride but a little shorter due to the start point, we'll take Mississauga rd straight to Lakeshore, should still come out to 50k non-stop.

"I know some Idiots need to be back in time to do domestic chores but I'll need some caffeine and some patio time so I will stop at Eden cafe on Marine Parade Drive before heading up Park Lawn & the Humber trail to Old Mill. Hopefully we can make good time and we can all relax over some Java in the sun

The weather looks great and wind should not be quite as bad as last Sunday.

The true meaning of motivation

At least for Ken .....

Idiots need some colour

Thought I would add the Guinness photo

Welcome to the BWVI's Blog

Gentlemen:

Gavin was right. This was so simple, given enough time, even an Idiot can figure it out. :-)
